Kerr crucible is a machined graphite crucible, was designed specifically for Kerr Maxi Electro Melt Electric Furnace 100oz / 3Kilo unit. Crucible is made of HIGH GRADE fine grain graphite to provide optimum performance and durability. Graphite provides maximum resistance to oxidation while metal is being melted. To avoid contamination use separate crucible for each metal.
The crucible has a pouring spout to pour the molten metal of the crucible without removing the crucible from the melter. The bottom of the crucible has round opening to allow the internal thermocouple of the melting furnace to measure the temperature accurately.
Note: We highly recommend coating the internal walls of the crucible with Boric Acid to reduce flaking. Prior to use and melting Pre-Heat the crucible slowly. This will allow moisture to evaporate and cures the graphite,

Care Notes: * Crucible will last longer when coated with Boric Acid (Interior Cavity and Outer Lip portion). * Crucible should be pre-heated before use. * Avoid contamination of various metals use separate crucible for each type of metal. * After melting is complete place crucible in the melting chamber of the machine and cover the Lid to prevent rapid deterioration of the Graphite from Oxygen in the Air.
