This is a European Type ring clamp made in Italy widely used by Jewelers and Stone Setter. A really well designed, mechanically sturdy constructed ring clamp for Jewelry Making. The contour shape of the ring clamp provides a very good grip in the palm.
The jaws stay parallel when the wing nut is tightened at the bottom end to hold the ring. As you loosen the bottom brass wing nut the jaws gradually rise and open up. The center threaded steel stud may be needed to be tapped on the bench to allow loosening of the jaws, due to the strong gripping of the jaws.
The contour shape of the ring clamp provides a strong grip and control in the palm as work is performed.
The maximum opening of the jaws is 9mm. Clamp is from Italy and is made of hard wood with leather jaws and a brass metal collar to keep the jaws in place.
